Matt completed his PhD in July 2018, but he continues to publish the work arising from his research. In the latest issue of Energy Technology, we present high-resolution tomography images of electrospun flow-through electrodes. Matt performed a variety of quantitative image analyses on these images, including lattice-Boltzmann simulations of fluid flow through the structure shown in the cover image at left. The streamlines and velocities through the structure are highly relevant to the ultimate performance of the battery, but this information can only be obtained using modeling. Not only does it given useful results, but it also makes for beautiful images! Congrats Matt. We’ve printed this out and it’s hanging on the wall in the lab.
